CONAF pass & rules
Torres del Paine park fee and entry rules
The pass is a separate online purchase — and the rules are changing in 2026.
The park pass is a separate government charge
Entry to Torres del Paine requires a CONAF park pass, which is a Chilean government charge distinct from any tour or refugio booking. For foreign adults it's around USD $35 in the high season and less in the low season, with under-18s free. It's context for your budget, not a price we set or collect.
You buy it online in advance
The pass is purchased ahead of time on the official pasesparques.cl website rather than only at the gate, and you'll need it to enter. For a self-guided W, you typically buy it once your refugio nights are confirmed; on a guided day tour, the logistics are usually handled for you.
The 2026 route-based ticket change
CONAF is moving to route-based park tickets — for example separate passes for a full day, the Base of the Towers, the W circuit or the full Macizo circuit — rather than a single generic entry. If you're planning around 2026, check pasesparques.cl for the current ticket categories and prices, which can change.
Guides no longer mandatory on the towers trail
A recent rule change means certified guides are no longer mandatory specifically on the Base of the Towers trail, opening that marquee day hike to independent walkers. Other rules — pre-booked accommodation, registration, fire and camping restrictions — still apply, so confirm the current requirements before you go.
The rules exist for a fragile, wild place
The pre-booking, the capped beds and the fire restrictions all trace back to protecting a heavily visited wilderness that has suffered serious fires in the past. Treating the CONAF pass, the registration and the leave-no-trace rules as part of the trip — not red tape — is part of visiting Torres del Paine responsibly.
